Premise
Based on the musical.

Who should watch
Musical fans. People who enjoy a good film full of music sprinkled with American history.

Thoughts
Well-produced movie. I particularly liked the interesting observations about Blacks in America from 1950-1980's, especially in music. The Jackson 5 parody of ‘The Campbell Connection' was hilarious. Eddie Murphy deserved the best supporting actor. His acting and character gave a glimpse of what the late, great James Brown (who passed away the same year) once was.

But the reason you have to watch this is Jennifer Hudson, who stole the show. Her singing was just powerful, soulful, and emotional. I was nearly in tears at times. When her solo finished, the audience in the movie theater actually stood up and cheered.

What I would change
Nothing.
