Premise
A 1950's couple begin to doubt their "American Dream".
Who should watch
Anyone in the mood for small, great cinema. Americans.
Thoughts
A difficult-to-pull-off film that was one of the best of 2002. Not only was the setting 1950's, but so was the film style. This style added great resonance for the socially conscious audience of today.
While the film tightroped between parody and tribute, it also explored various social issues: homosexuality, race, alcohol, violence, women's rights, therapy, the list goes on and on.
Think of this film as a dramatic, realistic, and superior version of 'Pleasantville'.
What I would change
Nothing.
