Fans of the first King Kong.
Thoughts
Action fans had to wait for an hour before the action happened. But when it did, it was non-stop and breath-taking. My favorite was the fight between Kong and more than one T-Rex.
The ill-fated romance between Kong and Ann was more emotional than expected. Credit goes to the acting and animators. I hope one day the Academy acknowledges Andy Serkis' contributions to film.
Was it better than the original? I would say yes, not just for the superior special effects, but for the superior emotional impact. However, if you claim to be a film-lover, you should watch the original out of respect for its accomplishments.
What I would change
Made the native tribe less creepy and stereotypical.
