Fans of the cast. Romantic comedy fans.
Thoughts
Here are 10 things I liked about '10 Things I Hate About You'... Just kidding. Nevertheless, there was definitely plenty to like.
I really liked the screenplay. Granted the fact that Shakespeare was always universal, but the adaption of the play to a high school setting was perfect. Even though I knew the story, it was never boring. The dialogue was quirky and funny and sprinkled with Shakespearean references.
Also, the cast was likeable. This helped launch the careers of Heath Ledger and Julia Stiles. It also had that dude from '3rd Rock From the Sun'. Julia Stiles was kicked butt as the badass bitch of the school. The supporting cast was very colorful, highlighted by the very funny Larry Miller and Allison Janney as they made the most of their limited screentime.
Near the end, it enterred chick-flick-ville, but by then I was sold on the story. So I forgave them.
What I would change
Thought up a better title.
