Premise
Based on the graphic novel, it tells the story of a young idealistic Iranian girl growing up in a world transitioning from tyranny (Shah) to freedom to tyranny (Islamic fundamentalists).

Who should watch
Those who don't mind subtitles, and would like to know more about the 1980's-1990's Iranian experience.

Thoughts
Very entertaining and insightful. I have heard numerous times about how open-minded the Iranian youth are, but it's different to see it expressed artistically.

There are millions of youths just waiting to burst and embrace the outside world, but their oppressive government is holding them down. This film helped show the struggles and dangers of living in such a place. There were many funny moments as well as poignant moments.

I've been told that the animation style reflected the graphic novel style. Its simplicity let the story tell itself, occasionally punctuated with exaggeration.

One thing I did not like was the ending. But it was very logical, afterall, life goes on.

Lastly, I was suprised at how much French I remembered.

What I would change
Slowed down the pace a bit. There were parts that felt like hurried little episodes, with choppy transitions.
