Premise
Stanley Kubrick and Arthur C Clarke's famous film about humans in space.
Who should watch
Kubrick fans. Movie buffs.
Thoughts
Even after all these years, I can still vividly recall the apes, monolith, The Blue Danube and HAL's soothing voice.
Was it weird, artsy, and boring to the casual moviegoer? Of course! It's Kubrick.
I wouldn't mind calling it the best science fiction film of all time. Like most, I admired the shocking imagery and perfect use of classical music. What made it great was the struggle of man versus science. While these characters struggle against non-human entities and factors, I found these scenes contained emotional resonance.
My only gripe was that the entire film was a collection of excellent, memorable short stories, without a true main plot.
Only Kubrick could create such a weird, original, thought-provoking, and must-see film.
What I would change
Nothing.
