Premise
Yet another in the 'quirky, witty hitmen' genre, this time it's the Irish version.
Who should watch
Those in the mood for a mean helping of dark humor, sprinkled with a little weirdness, and some R-rated gun shot wounds.
Thoughts
I laughed a lot. There were plenty of smart, witty, weird jokes by all the characters. I also liked a lot of the characters, especially Colin Farrell as a rookie hitman wracked with guilt for accidentally killing a young boy.
Every once in a while, the plot would trick me into thinking it was heading into a cliche. However, just as I start to think 'Here comes the shootout' or 'I know what happens next', these characters pulled the rug under me with something unique. How a character warns another via bell-tower was rather ingenius.
While nothing beats 'Pulp Fiction', this film was an excellent execution of this genre with its own flavor and twist.
Last but not least, Ralph Fiennes' character name was 'Harry', so I found it amusing whenever Mad Eye Moody was calling Voldemort 'Harry'.
What I would change
Could have used a little less gore. But that's just me being squeamish.
