Premise
The Autobots and Decepticons are back and they are bigger and louder than ever.
Who should watch
Those in the mood for two and a half hours of brainless explosions.
Thoughts
Here was the only good stuff: the Decepticons. The film makers got quite creative with some of the designs of the bad guys, especially the toy truck that gets captured by Megan Fox and becomes her pet (speaking of being Megan Fox's pet... er never mind).
My favorite Decpticon from the cartoons, Soundwave, finally made an appearance, and he did not disappoint. I loved the fact he was a satellite-hacking satellite; it totally fit his character and role. To top it off, the panther Decepticon (Soundwave's pet) also had a cool part.
That was all the only good I could get out of this marathon of expensive computer graphics, bad acting, and stupid story. The only human character I liked was John Turturro's return (I'm still vouching that he should be Murdoch in the yet-to-be-filmed 'A-Team' movie).
Some of the IMAX scenes were cool, but without a decent story, all the novelty and campy charm from the first film felt like torture. Some of the computer graphics even looked incomplete or half-assed. Lastly, it was still impossible to tell one transformer from another, due to each face looking the same and the lack of character.
This boring, loud explosion-fest will not dampen my nostalgic love for Transformers, but I will never watch this willingly ever again.
I assumed the movie's racial controversy stemmed from the twin Autobots with big ears and talked like gangster-clowns, implying black stereotypes. Have they not seen the first movie? Every Autobot had a stupid accent, and behaved stereotypical. Hell, Jazz was also a black character, and he's the first Autobot to die! More importantly, this too stupid of a movie to even complain about racism. If you're going to complain about that, I suggest they worry more about all the caricatures presented on a weekly basis in the professional wrestling.
What I would change
Not made this movie. Or at least put in Dinobots!
