Thoughts
A very likable film.

Meryl Streep was great as Julia Child, exuding the quirkiness and charm of the famous personality. She was amazing. Even in such a light-hearted, innocuous film, she was never on auto-pilot. Amy Adams, carrying the other lead, was cute as a button. Supporting them were the likable Stanley Tucci and Chris Messina as their respective husbands. Everyone else was pretty good, especially Jane Lynch in a hilarious role as Julia's equally quirky sister.

Throughout the film, it was very charming, thanks to the fun performances, but also to some nice writing for the couples. I liked how the screenwriter did not stoop to any conventional bad guys or cliche obstacles for the characters. It was refreshing that both husbands were supportive and had healthy relationships.

There were some boring parts. I think this was due to the parallel story gimmick, so when one character struggles, you know the other will. These redundancies made the film feel longer than it should.

Overall, this adorable film made me feel warm and fuzzy inside. And I enjoyed Streep's excellent creativity and effort.

What I would change
Cut to the chase in some of the scenes when the two leads are going through redundant character arcs.
