Thoughts
Pretty cool cast, but everything else was pretty lacking.
There were quite a few recognizable British actors, including Michael Gambon, Robert Carlyle, and Liv Tyler (attempting an English accent). The fabulous Alan Cumming was a scene-stealer as the (surprise!) flamboyant fop. Lastly, the visual style was pretty fun, with an some odd mix of flair, grittiness, slick action, and charming characters.
I was very turned off by the pop music set to a periodic piece. The movie had an identity problem of whether it wanted to be hip or bleak. Another big problem was that the plot swung between predictable or confusing.
Simply put, I wanted to like this movie, but it brought nothing really interesting to the table to offset its flaws.
What I would change
Stuck with a classical score.
