Premise
Danny Trejo stars as a Mexican cop hell-bent on revenge, Mexploitation-style.

Loved
The guilty pleasure.

Thoughts
Great fun.

As a Danny Trejo fan, I was happy for him to get a chance to be the lead, and he did not disappoint. In addition, it was an eclectic, hilarious cast, some going against type, some going with type. Steven Seagal as a fat Mexican kingpin was worth the price of admission. Fans of Robert Rodriguez should recognize some familiar, older faces, such as Cheech Marin and Tom Savini. I loved Daryl Sabara (Spy Kids) as a wannabe.

As advertised, there were tons of gratuitous (but stylish) violence, nudity, and satirical pokes at exploitation flicks. The whole film contained all sorts of pop culture shout outs from the 1970's to present, in the form of casting, sound effects, and music. Decorating the prologue with old film artifacts/flaws was a nice touch.

If I had to nitpick, it would be the casting of Lindsay Lohan and Jessica Alba for different reasons. While Lohan offered wonderful boobage, she seemed like she was there for just the sake of it. Alba, while super-hot, was rather boring and the weakest link in selling the cheeky sense of humor of the film.

Fans of Rodriguez and cinema should be delightfully satisfied. Even casual moviegoers should enjoy this well-made, fun guilty pleasure.

What I would change
Nothing.
