Thoughts
Definitely one of the best-looking mediocre movies I've seen in a long time.
Depp and Jolie were ravishing and gorgeous in their classy outfits, walking about picturesque Venetian locales, with a lot of help from romantic cinematography. All that gave the movie an old-school glamour feel. I also enjoyed Timothy Dalton's appearance, as well as Dark City's Rufus Sewell.
Despite the pretty visuals, it could not hide the wooden characters and performances. All good-looking Depp was, he looked comically like Eddie Vedder at times. Personally, I think John Cusack would've been a better cast choice, because Depp didn't seem to be able to ham it up to accompany the ludicrous moments.
The most egregious offense: halfway into The Tourist, I called the final reveal, and I was sadly right. For an intrigue genre, it was logically the most illogical choice and I knew lazy writers would somehow choose that option.
