Blah story.
Thoughts
Meh, I guess it was mostly harmless.
Hanks and Roberts were sufficiently likable, and occasionaly still brought their A-game charm. George Takei was very entertaining as a super weirdo professor. There were a lot of recognizable faces, but Rami Malek stole the show as a goofball classmate.
Unfortunately, that wasn't enough to lift up the rest of the film. Mainly, there was no resistance to prevent Hanks and Roberts from living happily ever after. So it was predictable and uninteresting. Aside from Malek, none of the cutesy safe attempt at comedy made me laugh or smirk. The subplot of Gugu Mbatha-Raw as a lovely young spirit was clunky, as if in its attempt to make her a possible love interest without being creepy caused it to feel creepy.
Larry Crowne didn't suck, but I honestly don't remember what happened.
