NBA legends Magic Johnson and Larry Bird talk about their basketball lives and intertwined legacies.
Loved
All encompassing journey.
Thoughts
As a big NBA (and Lakers) fan, I was already very familiar with the tale of the two legends. Yet I still found this very enjoyable and interesting.
Obviously there was the nostalgia factor as Bird and Magic dived into all the key moments in the basketball careers and lives. But even for someone like me, there was always something new to learn about them, whether it be a nuanced aspect about their personalities, or whether it be something (clouded by the media) that needed to be cleared up. I really dug the simplistic approach of just having the two of them do the talking, it made the story feel candid and sincere.
Since I don't have HBO, I was glad I could watch it on NBA TV, even if it did mean there were commercials and censoring. Not that I'm a hundred percent sure, but it sure felt like only harsher cuss words and racial slurs got silenced, while everything else remained intact.
Magic and Bird was an excellent comprehensive look into their histories and legacies. It made for a good combo to go with The Announcement and The Dream Team.
